Description

E32T-TC200 through beam fiber optic cable, with 4mm threaded end, used to inspect component placement in Omega's automated connector assembly. E3X-DA11-S amplifier is located in the control panel away from the machine's moving components and inaccessable to machine operators.
The E3X-DA Series fiber optic sensor amplifier is a simplified amplifier for sensing needs that require more precise acceptance criteria. The dual digital display quickly confirms sensor performance of the incident and threshold values. This amplifer for fiber optic sensors can be used with one or two cables with independant acceptance criteria. The E3X-DA Series amplifier requires and can be used with many fiber optic cables to perform throughbeam and reflective sensing methods. This amplifier can be switched between Light-ON or Dark-ON and has an adjustable OFF-delay/ON-delay timer.

What is a Fiber Optic Sensor?

A fiber optic sensor is a two component sensor that uses a fiber optic cable as a means of relaying the light signals from a remote sensing location to the amplifier (electronics) that processes the signal. The amplifiers are DIN rail mountable and can be installed in an area away from moving equipment or in an electrical enclosure, allowing for remote sensitivity adjustments. The fiber optic cable allows detection of very small objects or parts verification in hard to reach areas with precise positioning of the sensing head, where photoelectric sensors would be inaccessible. Advantages are the ability to withstand higher temperatures, shock and vibration resistance, wet or corrosive locations and since the fiber optic cables only transfer light, they are unaffected by electrical noise. Fiber optic cables are divided into two categories: through-beam and reflective. The through-beam is comprised of an emitter and a receiver in two separate cables and the object will pass through the beam. The reflective comes in a single unit with the emitter and receiver in a single cable and the light is reflected off the object back to the receiver.
