The MMP-100 is a plug-in adaptor card for IBM or compatible personal computers using the ISA expansion bus. It occupies two expansion slots and provides one multimode parallel port and two asynchronous RS-232 serial ports. The multimode parallel port is accessed through a D-25 connector, and the two RS-232 serial ports are accessed through a D-25 connector and a D-9 connector. The multimode parallel port may be operated in one of four different modes: standard PC compatible parallel port mode, PS/2 type bidirectional port mode, Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) mode, or Extended Capabilities Port (ECP) mode. EPP operation as described in the IEEE 1284 specification is fully supported. In addition, ECP operation as defined in the Microsoft Extended Capabilities Port specification is supported as well. The parallel port mode is jumper selectable, and the port may be implemented at one of three standard parallel port I/O addresses (278h, 378h or 3BCh). The multimode parallel port may use one of nine possible IRQ levels (IRQ 2-5, 7, 10-12, and 15). The two asynchronous RS-232 serial ports are implemented with 16550 compatible UARTs which will allow the serial ports to be operated in multitasking environments and with applications involving high data transfer rates. The two serial ports may be implemented at the standard COM port addresses (3F8h, 2F8h, 3E8H, and 2E8h). Each serial port is provided with access to IRQ 2-5, 7, 10-12, and 15.
